Mark & Nicola | Upwaltham Barns
All of the following photos were taken (and edited) by me, whilst second shooting for Helen Cawte Photography.
What a wedding! With Dutch, German, Mexican and Lebanese family - this was certainly a day with a mixture of cultures, traditions and surprises! I was delighted to arrive at the gorgeous venue with blue skies and sunshine. I found one of the ushers and asked where the groom was - he told me to look for a Craig David lookalike. Can you see why?!
I started by photographing the homemade details around the venue, including the stunning flowers created by friends of the groom. After the boys got dressed, the guests soon arrived and made their way to the main barn. Many people were confused why there was a long piece of string winding between every chair - this was soon explained by the celebrant, who told them that the wedding rings were going to be passed along the string, between each guest! The beautiful bride and bridesmaids soon arrived and it was a very special ceremony, personal and all about the couple.
After the confetti was thrown, they had a drinks reception with Pimms and German beer. This was interrupted by a song from the Dutch side of the family - complete with an accordion, clogs and fancy dress!
The evening followed with a fantastic meal, lots of hilarious speeches and a beautiful cake. The guests enjoyed S’mores over the fire pit, and the cosy Moroccan style seating area.
There was a lot of energy (and alcohol) on the dance floor; a great end to a brilliant day, and my last wedding of the summer season!
