Newborn shoot tips

 Tips for your newborn shoot...

Some of my top tips before your shoot…

Tidying up - you have just given birth, please DO NOT worry about cleaning your entire house! We’ll most likely only use 1-2 rooms. I use natural light in my photos so any sun-facing rooms (or a room with large windows) would be best. A bedroom or living room (or somewhere with a comfy chair) is great. Please open up the curtains/blinds to allow as much light as possible.

Clothes - have a think about colours that complement each other. Patterns are fine as long as they’re not too bold or distracting! Avoid any clothes with words or images on as they can take away attention from the baby in the photos. Feel free to send me photos of your clothes to ask my advice beforehand or have a look at my Instagram page or blog to see what my previous clients have worn!

Feeding/changing - it’s completely normal for newborn babies to need feeding or changing frequently, so please don’t worry about this interrupting the shoot! I am happy to allow extra time for this, I’d much prefer your baby (and you) to be happy rather than rush the photos. 1-1.5 hours is plenty of time to get a good variety of poses as well as attending to your little one.

Poses - I will do a combination of photos of the baby on their own, with each parent, with any siblings, and all of you together as a family. I will suggest poses which I know work well but please feel free to suggest anything you’d like to try! I will also take unposed photos of you engaging with each other and your baby.
